Tiler, 30, remanded for alleged robbery, rape
A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded a 30- year-old tiler, Sunday David, in a correctional centre for alleged armed robbery and rape of a 28-year-old lady.
David, who resides at Isa Kaita Road, Badarawa Kaduna, was arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy, armed robbery and rape.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, gave the order after going through the First Information Report against the defendant.
Emmanuel ordered that the case file should be duplicated and sent to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
He adjourned the matter until Sept. 15, for hearing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, had told the court that the defendant committed the offence at Ungwan Rimi in Kaduna on Aug. 30.
Leo said that the defendant conspired with two others now at large and broke into the 28-year-old lady’s house when she was sleeping.
The prosecutor said the defendant attacked and disposed her of the sum of N50,000 then had carnal knowledge of her.
He said that the offence contravened Section 6(b), 1(1), (2) of Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act Cap RII Laws of Federation of Nigeria 2004 and Section 258 of Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.
