TICT trains 250 staff on lean six sigma yellow belt
To maintain operational excellence and enhance the human capital development of its workforce, Tincan Island Container Terminal (TICT), Apapa, has trained 250 team members in the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt continuous improvement methodology.
Lean Six Sigma certification, a globally recognised standard, is a powerful approach to process and quality improvement across various industries. It promotes a collaborative team effort to enhance performance by systematically eliminating process waste and reducing variation.
Tai Fadipe-Davids, the Head of Process Excellence at TICT, explained that the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt training marked a significant milestone in aligning the team with the company’s vision of promoting efficiency improvements within its operations and across Nigeria’s maritime sector.
He stated: “The maritime industry is becoming increasingly competitive, with new players emerging. It is our responsibility to promote organisational efficiency, and one way to do this is by training our staff in the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt methodology.
“For this training, we covered the basics of Lean Six Sigma concepts, principles, and tools, including Voice of the Customer, Next Operation as Customer, and Quality at the Source. Our aim is to ensure that all of our team members understand the fundamental Lean processes as a preliminary step in our Process Excellence journey.”
Etienne Rocher, Country Managing Director of AGL (Tincan Island Container Terminal), noted that the company is always seeking ways to maximise operational efficiency.
“As an organisation with a global interface, we have consistently adopted global tools that have helped streamline our operations. Our ongoing Process Excellence journey is a crucial step towards developing our team and fostering a stronger culture of collaborative improvement.
