Three-day budget retreat: Ojokoro council boss harps on improved revenue
The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Hon. Hammed Idowu D. Tijani has charged all officers to work towards achieving a realistic and attainable budget estimate for the Fiscal Year 2022.
Hon. Tijani disclosed this while addressing the management, revenue officers and other participants at the council’s 3-day annual budget retreat tagged, “Budget of Continued Transformation.”
He said, “In order for us to ensure quality service delivery, infrastructural development and equitable distribution of dividends of democracy to the residents in all sectors of governance, we must be accountable in our estimates and also make sure that our estimates are in line with these sectors for us to achieve a better revenue from last year’s income.”
Hon. Hammed Tijani emphasised that it is important for every contribution made at the retreat to be implemented and passed into law to achieve outmost results for the benefit of the entire constituents.
“Ojokoro must be one of the leading Local Governments in Lagos State, in the area of quality service delivery; with the modalities being put in place for the preparation and execution of the year 2022 budget estimates”, the council boss concluded.
Also speaking, the Council Manager, Mr Adeyemi Adebola buttressed the importance of the Year 2022 Budget to be robust and realistic in order to ensure the good people of Ojokoro enjoy more dividends of democracy from the present administration.
“In order to ensure revenues are generated efficiently, we must adhere to the harmonised billing system of payment to reduce multiple payments of rates and dues by the people, as this has always been an issue across all Local Governments in the state,” Mr. Adeyemi concluded.
On his part, the Director General of Lagos State Public Procurement Agency and facilitator for the retreat, Mr Fatai Idowu Onafowote, commended the Mayor of Ojokoro, HID Tijani for quality and adequate service delivery.
He further charged all technocrats in the LCDA to be more efficient, professional, auditable, transparent and also ensure clear accountability as service providers.
The Council’s Director of Budget Planning and Statistics, Mr Oriola Yahaya thanked all the participants for their positive contributions towards the preparation of the Year 2022 budget estimate at the three days retreat.
Also in attendance at the event were the Vice Chairman, Hon Oladipupo Coker, Leader of the house, Hon Tunde Oyekunle, Council Treasurer, Mr Olusegun Bankole, HOD Budget, Mr Oriola Y.O., members of the legislative arm, management and some members staff of the Council.
