Things will get better soon – Governor Alia assures Benue youths

The Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Iormem Alia on Friday, assured youths in the state that things will soon get better for them.

The governor gave the assurance while addressing the youths, at Wurukum roundabout, Makurdi, the state capital while returning from the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.

Some youths, mostly motorcyclists in Makurdi Friday, crowded the Food Basket roundabout where a rift ensued between traffic police and some officers of the Nigerian Army.

Governor Alia made a brief stopover to calm the situation, after which he addressed the youth and assured them of purposeful strategies to give employment and engage youths of the state in viable ventures that will benefit them and the Benue society.

He emphasised youth empowerment using technical education and training for sustainable development.

The governor also cautioned against violence and abuse of human rights by security agencies, adding that motorcyclists in the state should always maintain law and order and that security agents should not harass or assault any Benue citizen who is working in an acceptable manner to earn a living.

He acknowledged the hardship in the state and assured them that things will soon get better.
