‘The Progressives’ in Osun need redirection, guiding moral compass — Engr. Awotorebo

The  time is here again, it’s election season. The atmosphere in Nigeria is one filled with great expectations as elections are here again, beginning from Ekiti and Osun State gubernatorial elections in June and July 2022 respectively, and the general election in 2023.

Sadly, there are woes troubling our dear Nation, moreso as a result of moral vacuum in the political corridor and the lack of political will of instituting governance fervour sustainably by the institutions as a result of diminished values.

Elder stateman, Former Minister of Water Resources, Engr. B.I. Awotorebo while making an opinion in an interactive session with IyiolaOmisoreMediaTeam  cited the fact that people like him are the proverbial wise elders who cannot afford to sit and watch in the market square, and allow dangers to fester.

Engr. Awotorebo was particular about the lingering quagmire in Osun State APC which he stated is avoidable and the only way out is redirection by the political elites, enthronement of political discourse with gravity and entrenchment of moral compass with the conscience and consciousness to be above the fray in political discourse and activities.

The former Minister of FRN who is also the High Chief Omonide of Ile-Ife emphasised that the Nigerian brand of politics of mere political brickbats had resulted in absurdity in our political system to an extent where issues are bowed to awkward self-centredness and the sense of right and wrong twisted to serve political purposes.

He mentioned the current shenanigans of an APC group in Osun State named The Osun Progressives TOP against the substantive state party structure and the state government. He said that such odious bearing of the group is tantamount to political suicide by the partakers especially in an instance when they felt they were allegedly short-changed and had approached the judiciary for redress which resulted in their loss by virtue of the verdicts of competent law court, the right thing to do is to accept the verdict sportsmanly.

In conclusion, he condemned strongly the malicious statements and press releases the group employs against the state governor, the party and the leaders. He particularly dismissed the notion of shortage of wise elders in the party made recently by one of their writers as he extolled the virtues of Dr Yemi Farounbi, Chief Bisi Akande, Engr Sola Akinwunmi, Pa Kunle Odeyemi, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Alhaji M.O. Iyiola, himself, Chief Gbadebo Ajao, the  former deputy governor Mrs Titilaoye Ponnle, Prince Felix Awofisayo, Chief Johnson Awofisayo, Chief Oye Oke, Isa Abimbola, Ambassador Adeyemi Afolahan, Comrade Adepoju Odusola, Alhaji Sule Alao, Sooko Adewoyin Adeleke, Chief Sola Ogunsanya, Prof Razak Deremi, Prof Mojeed Alabi, Gbadegesin Adedeji, among others who he claimed are best breeds of elders any society can be proud to have. He urged all to close ranks for Northward trajectory of the party especially by ensuring convincing victory of His Excellency Isiaq Gboyega Oyetola in the 2022 gubernatorial election on July 16th, 2022.
