The Palestinian president has established a committee to prepare for a visit to Gaza

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has issued a decree to establish a committee to prepare for his visit to the Gaza Strip. The decree aims to halt aggression in Gaza and ensure the immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces, while affirming that the State of Palestine holds jurisdiction over Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.

Abbas had previously announced his intention to visit Gaza with other Palestinian leadership members to restore national unity under the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) and enhance government functionality across Palestinian territories, focusing on relief and reconstruction efforts.

The decree outlines that the preparatory committee, made up of PLO Executive Committee members, will coordinate travel plans with international and regional entities, conduct a national dialogue to form a unified vision on critical issues, and engage in political, diplomatic, and legal efforts. It also emphasizes mobilizing support at the Arab, Islamic, and international levels for the PLO’s plan. The date of the visit has not yet been specified.
