Tension in Osun community as unknown person butchers 55-year-old trader

There was palpable tension in Modakeke, a town in Osun State as a 55-year-old woman, identified as Iya Elekuru was murdered by a yet-to-be-identified person.

It was gathered that the deceased, around 10:50 am on Saturday, was lured into a house and killed by the unidentified person while hawking at Ogbingin area in Ile-Ife.

The head and hands of the deceased were cut and taken away by the fleeing suspect.

Some angry youths have burnt the building where the corpse of the woman was found.

The spokesperson of Osun State Police Command, SP Yemisi Opalola who confirmed the incident said the state Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode has opened an investigation into the case.

“The remains of the deceased was released for the victim’s son for immediate burial according to Islamic rites,” she said.
