Tension eases in Plateau as nine lawmakers are sworn-in

By Ukandi Odey, Jos

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has called for Executive-Legislature collaboration “in the interest of the State” as he received the nine newly sworn-in members of the Plateau State House of Assembly, PLHA, at the Government House, Jos.

According to watchers of politics and political analysts, the swearing-in of nine out of the sixteen lawmakers the Appeal Court in Abuja ruled in favour of their electoral victory will go a long way to douse the tension that was building and mounting as the Speaker was being constrained by judicial instruments from performing the swearing-in.

According to a statement by the director of press and public affairs, Gyang Bere, the Plateau State Governor “has officially welcomed the newly inaugurated members of the Plateau State House of Assembly, along with their principal officers, whose return to office was validated by the judgment of the Court of Appeal. This development puts to an end, the recent misunderstanding within the House”.
