Teenager left helpless as aunt travels abroad, parents’ whereabouts unknown

A 17-year-old girl, Mariam Ibrahim has been left stranded and helpless after her aunt, Temitope Marelin Odukoya who she has been living with, travelled abroad with her children.

The teenager’s parents, identified as Aliu Sezuo Ibrahim and Nosimot Omobolanle Ibrahim, have been kidnapped for over seven months, and their whereabouts remain unknown.

Our correspondent gathered that Mariam who has been living with her aunt since she was a kid currently has nowhere to go or anyone to take care of her since the parents she can go back to have been kidnapped.

To make matters worse, the husband of the sister, Olaolu Dada Odukoya who could have potentially taken care of the teenager, is bedridden and unable to provide support.

The teenager’s parents were kidnapped in February, and despite efforts by the authorities, their whereabouts remain unknown.

The family has received no ransom demands or communication from the kidnappers.

Speaking with our correspondent, the teenager’s aunt lamented that her niece is abandoned as no close relative cares for her in Lagos.

She said, “I don’t know what to do or who to turn to, my niece is currently alone because her parents have been kidnapped and there is no one to care for her.

“My husband would have helped, but he is on a sick bed for months.”

The authorities have been informed of the situation, but so far, no solution has been found.

The teenager is currently relying on neighbours and friends for support, but she fears for her future.

The community has rallied around the teenager, offering support and assistance. However, she still feels lost and alone, unsure of what the future holds.

As the search for her parents continues, the teenager can only hope that they will be found safe and sound.

Until then, she remains helpless and alone, a victim of circumstances beyond her control.
