Teacher impersonates DSS officer to defraud job-seeker in Osun

A School Teacher,  Olaleye Oluseyi who  impersonated as an Officer of the Department of State Security Services (DSS) was on Wednesday dragged before an Osogbo Magistrate’s Court in Osun State

The defendant who was brought to the court by detectives of the Osun State Police Command, was accused of fraudulently obtaining the Sum N112,000 from one Mr Taiwo Victor while pretending to be a DSS operative.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Elisha Olusegun, told the court that Oluseyi committed the crime sometimes in the month of November 2022, at Ota-Efun area, Osogbo Osun State.

He informed the court that the defendant committed the crime with intent to defraud, having presented himself as a member of the Department of State Services (DSS) to defraud one Taiwo Victor.

Elisha added that Oluseyi unlawfully obtained the sum of N112,000 from same Taiwo Victor with the pretence of recruiting him into the Department of State Services (DSS).

The Prosecutor further alleged that the offence committed by the defendant is contrary to, and punishable under Section 488, 419, 399(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 vol II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

The defendant standing trial on three-count-charge pleaded not guilty to the charge slammed against him.

Tunbosun Oladipupo, Counsel to the defendant urged the court to exercise discretion and admit his client to bail “in most liberal term.”

However, Magistrate A.K Ajala, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum

Ajala further said that the surety’s address must be verified by the Investigating Police Officer (IPO).

He, thereafter, adjourned the matter till of March 18, 2023.
