TASUED mourns late Chancellor, Olurin

Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) Ijagun, Ijebu Ode has described the university’s first Chancellor, Late General Adetunji Idowu Olurin as a selfless and caring patriot who gave his best to ensure that the world remained a peaceful place for all to live.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof Wole Banjo, made these remarks while commenting on the demise of the death of the former Field Commander of ECOMOG Peacekeeping Force in Liberia.

Olurin, a former military governor of Oyo State and 2011 PDP governorship candidate in Ogun State died on Monday at 77.

The acting VC, Prof Banjo, in a statement signed by him was said to have quoted  “the late General displayed exemplary qualities while he held the office of the first Chancellor here at TASUED. He was a fine Officer and gentleman and a father indeed to us as he played a major role in laying a solid foundation for the University. He would  surely be missed.”

He further disclosed that the late statesman was a highly principled leader who impacted greatly on the principles of hardwork, discipline and uniqueness TASUED is known for.

Late General Adetunji Olurin, onetime Administrator of Ekiti State was appointed as the first Chancellor of the University on Wednesday 29th November 2006.
