TASUED expels 25 students and imposes indefinite suspensions on 58 others

The administration of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijagun, Ogun State, has enacted disciplinary measures against its students, including the expulsion of 25 individuals and the indefinite suspension of 58 others, due to various offenses such as forgery, threats to life, examination malpractices, and other fraudulent activities.

Mr. Dapo Oke, the University’s Registrar, announced these actions in a statement released on Tuesday. The decisions followed recommendations from the Examination Malpractice and Students’ Disciplinary Committee and received approval from the university’s Senate during its statutory meeting on July 31, 2024.

The affected students have been directed to remain off campus. The statement cautioned that any student who does not adhere to this directive will face legal consequences and potential intervention from the university’s security personnel.

The statement further detailed that Ojo Micheal, a 200-level student in the Computer Science Department, was expelled for the 2023/2024 academic session due to falsifying his CGPA to run for Student Union elections. In addition, seventeen students were expelled for examination malpractice, five for threats to life, and one for fraudulent activities. Forty-seven students were suspended indefinitely for various misconducts, while ten others were suspended for impersonation.

The statement concluded by advising the suspended students to avoid campus to prevent potential issues with university security.
