Taraba Police rescue three kidnap victims and recover arms

Taraba State Police Command says its operatives have rescued three abducted persons at Dutse Mubayu around the Kona Mountains of Jalingo, the state capital.

The Command’s spokesman, Abdullahu Usman, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Jalingo, adding that the trio were kidnapped at Sibre village of Ardo Kola LGA on the 6th day of December 2024.

”On 6/12/24 at about 14:30 hrs. Responding to a distress call, three persons were kidnapped at Sibre village Ardo Kola LGA.

“A team of operatives from Area Command Jalingo in collaboration with the vigilante swung into action and put up a hot chase on the kidnappers.

”The hoodlums engaged the team of police and vigilantes in a gun duel at Dutse Mubayu around Kona Mountains.

“Due to the firing power of the police, the kidnappers were subdued, and took to their heels, abandoning the victims.

”The victims were rescued unhurt and reunited with their family,” he said.

According to him, those rescued include Idris Adamu, Umar Usman and Ibrahim Usman. He added that the team also recovered a magazine of AK-47 loaded with 35 rounds of live ammunition.

The State Police Commissioner, Ukachi Opara, commended the efforts of officers and the vigilante for their collaborative efforts. He ordered that the team should intensify efforts to arrest the fleeing kidnappers, urging the people of Taraba State not to panic as the Command was on top of the situation
