Taraba: Lobbying for appointment in Kefas Agbu’s incoming government begins

Politicians in Taraba State, including appointees of outgoing Governor Darius Ishaku, have begun lobbying Governor-elect Kefas Agbu for appointments.

News Men correspondent reports that several personalities have been paying Agbu a visit at his home in Jalingo, the state capital, as they seek to be recognised for possible appointments.

A source close to Agbu told News Men that some of them have gone as far as meeting traditional rulers and critical stakeholders, including religious leaders, to recommend them to the Governor-elect.

He urged Agbu to shun the old hands and bring in younger people with fresh ideas into his cabinet. He lamented that most of those lobbying the Governor-elect are the appointees under Ishaku, who he said misled the outgoing Governor.

Also confirming knowledge of the ongoing lobby, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said, “some of us have been inundated with telephone calls from various persons seeking appointments from the incoming governor.”

Our correspondent also observed that some of the lobbyists have started attending Agbu’s church in a bid to get familiar with him and enjoy benefits from his government, including appointments.
