The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs on Friday has bestowed on the Director General of the Department of State Service, Yusuf Bichi Magagi with the Honour of HeforShe in Abuja in continuation of gender equality recognition.
The Minister, Dame Pauline Tallen during the inauguration of the HeforShe ceremony at the office of DG of State Services, noted that he was recognized for the Sterling qualities exhibited in gender inclusiveness in his administration.

Recall that the Minister had on Thursday 19th August, 2021, kickstarted the decorations of HeforShe with the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Engr. Olufunso Adebiyi in Abuja and to other notable personalities at this year’s 21st Regular National Council Meeting of Women Affairs held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Tallen recounted other HeforShes that have been decorated previously, hinting that Bichi Magaji demonstrated considerable progress in gender-mainstreaming.
He added that All-Female Special Intervention Squad under his leadership and the prowess exhibited by the Squad are notable.
The Minister further stated that the HeforShe award was an international award conferred by the United Nation’s UNWOMEN on certain individuals who have demonstrable and exceptional belief in gender equality and are advocates for the rights of women.
“For long, women have been ‘fighting’ for themselves, it’s time for men to support and speak on behalf of women,” the Minister said.
Meanwhile, the Director General of the Department of State Service (DSS), Yusuf Bichi Magagi, thanked the Honourable Minister for the conferment of the award stating that he was humbled by the gesture.
Magagi who described women as as special specie with outstanding skills and wisdom noted that, “women excel even better at operations of DSS which have hitherto been considered solely for men due to the nature and technicalities involved.
“One-third (1/3) of the present recruits undergoing training at the DSS are women.”
The Honourable Minister visited office of the D-G, DSS in company of Directors of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs; the President of Women in Politics Forum, Ebere Ifendu; the National Coordinator of 100 Women Lobby Group, Felicia Onibon and the Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Nigeria Police, Aisha Abubakar, (Most Senior Female Officer in the Police).
