…bags Gas Man of the Year award

The Minister of State for Petroleum, Chief Timipire Sylva has appraised Nigerian NewsDirect reportage of gas developments in Nigeria.
Recall that the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari had earlier launched the “Decade of Gas” initiative in Nigeria in 2021. The plan seeks to achieve a full economy powered by gas by the year 2030.
Speaking at the 2022 NewsDirect Annual lecture and Awards of Excellence held in Lagos, Sylva highlighted that the media has a role to play in making Nigeria a major gas consuming nation.
He noted that the efforts of Nigerian NewsDirect to provide extensive coverage on Gas and Hydrocarbon prompted his acceptance of the award.
Sylva who was represented by the Chairman, National Gas Expansion Programme (NGEP), Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim was honoured as the Gas Man of the Year at the 2022 NewsDirect Annual lecture and Awards of Excellence alongside Mr Tony Elumelu (Man of the Year), Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami (Award of Exemplary Leadership in Public Service), Alhaja Amina Maina (Downstream Personality of the Year), amongst several others.
