Suspected bike ‘snatchers’ kill vigilante man in Kwara village

Samuel Jiyah, a vigilante man was stabbed to death by suspected motorcycle thieves in Lade village of Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The incident, Nigerian NewsDirect gathered, happened on Friday’s night when the victim was returning from Ekati village on bike.

According to sources familiar with the incident, the vigilante man was murdered on Friday’s night and his Bajaj motorcycle including his valuabes were carted away when was killed.

The deceased’s in-law, Tsado Isaac told our correspondent  that the victim was attacked by bike snatchers in Lade village.

Isaac said, “They attacked him when he was returning from Ekati around Gbadebo farms in the night.”

Gbenga Aro, the deceased’s friend confirmed his friend was attacked during the night while returning from his village.

On his part, “His corpse was found in a bushy area by women who were fetching firewood for domestic uses in the farm on Saturday’s morning. Jiyah’s remains was seen in a bush close to the road. The women who found his body could not do anything but call attention of others.”

Aro further narrated, “The women drew attention of passers-by going to farm, failed to recognise him too. The men who didn’t recognise the victim, also called others from Lade village but his ex-landlord identified him easily.”

He added that the deceased’s families were informed and his remains was taken by his relatives to his native village, Ekati where he was buried immediately.
