Supreme Court affirms Gov. Ododo’s victory

Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo has praised the Supreme Court’s decision affirming his victory as the duly elected Governor of Kogi State.

In a statement released on Saturday by Ismail Isah, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ododo commended the judiciary for upholding justice despite facing threats and attempts at blackmail aimed at overturning the will of the Kogi State electorate.

The governor also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his support and urged opposition leaders in the state to collaborate with his administration to enhance democratic benefits for Kogi’s residents.

Ododo encouraged his supporters and All Progressives Congress members to celebrate the victory with grace and emphasized that his success was a result of divine intervention. He described the November 11 governorship election as a contest between family members working for the people of Kogi.

He stated, “I am elated by our victory and the judiciary’s commitment to the rule of law, despite emotional blackmail and threats. This victory belongs to the people who voted for us in a transparent, fair, and peaceful election.”

Ododo invited opposition parties to join him in advancing Kogi State’s progress and vowed to continue serving with dedication and integrity, promising that his administration would strive to deliver significant democratic benefits.

The Supreme Court, in a ruling on Friday, upheld Ododo’s victory in the November 11, 2023 governorship election, dismissing the appeal by the Social Democratic Party and its candidate, Muritala Ajaka, as meritless.
