Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, has appealed to youths in Lagos to support his developmental plans for people of the State.
Sanwo-Olu made the appeal in his New Year Message to the youth in Badagry at the end of activities to mark the Greater Lagos Fiesta in the town.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the three-day fiesta recorded massive turned out of youths from old Badagry Division.
NAN also reports that the event attracted upcoming artistes and some old musicians like Salawa Abeni, Safejo Amama, Alhaji Sule Akanni, Apekeola gospel song, Johnny Suru from Republic of Benin, Pepit Art and Saint Banky.
Sanwo-Olu, who was represented at the fiesta by Mr Ibrahim Layode, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, urged the residents of Badagry to cooperate with his administration by supporting his developmental plans.
He assured the people of Badagry that he would keep to his campaign promises.
The governor urged the youth to calm down and trust in his governance, adding that he would touch their respective communities.
He appealed to the youth to be law-abiding and stay away from anything that could tarnish their image or damage their future.
The governor commended the people for turning up in large numbers for the three-day fiesta.
Mr Olusegun Onilude, the Chairman, Badagry Local Government Area, said the fiesta had brought both old and young together to enjoy themselves.
“Since Friday, people had been coming here in thousands to enjoy themselves.
“This is impressive and encouraging. All residents of Badagry division are coming to Badagry Grammar School here to enjoy themselves and relax.
“This has brought joy to all households in Badagry unlike before when cultists and bad boys used to fight one another at end of the year carnival.
“We thank Mr Governor for not letting the dream die. He should continue the fiesta and next year’s should be bigger,” he said.
Dr Abiodun Christopher, the Basorun of Kweme Kingdom said the fiesta had brought indigenes together, foster peace and gives them reasons to know that they are one.
He urged Sanwo-Olu to bring in more musicians like Davido, Sake and other known musicians to boost the morale of incoming artistes in Badagry.
