Study presidential candidates’ antecedents before voting – Cleric to Nigerians

A renown cleric, Prophet James Omitade, has warned Nigerians against voting for presidential candidates whose antecedents they do not know, in next year’s general elections.

The clergy gave the advice during an interview with the  Newsmen  on Friday in Ado-Ekiti.

Omitade, who is the General Overseer of the Holy Trinity Authority Prophetic Church, Ikere Road, Ado-Ekiti, stressed the need for people to have personal convictions, rather than what others are saying or preaching to them about the candidates.

” It is very important for the Nigerian voters to know and consider the antecedents of the presidential candidates, before deciding on who they would vote for”, he said.

The cleric said that Nigerians should not just choose anyone out of the many presidential candidates, but rather consider their past achievements and how far they had impacted and affected  lives positively in the past.

He said competence and integrity should be other criteria for any candidate seeking to be the people’s choice in the forthcoming election.

” It is true that God answers prayers, but as human beings, we must not only be prayerful towards the forthcoming election, but also take proactive measures in a bid to protect ourselves from any design that would pose challenges or threaten the collective interest of the masses.

” To me, Nigerians should only promote candidates with good leadership antecedents, proven capacity, developmental programmes and policies that will ultimately favour the citizens, irrespective of religion, political beliefs and tribe.

” This is because, at the end of the day, both prayers and individual efforts will work together for the good of all, the cleric said.
