Student of Air Force Comprehensive School emerges winner of National Science Competitive Examination

Master Edeani Izuchukwu, a student of Air Force Comprehensive School (AFCS) Agbani, Enugu State has emerged winner of the just concluded National Science Competitive Examination where he was awarded the “774 Young Nigerian Scientists Presidential Award.” The competition is organised annually by the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology and open to all secondary schools nationwide. Izuchukwu, a Senior Secondary 3 student representing Enugu State, came first at the grand finale of the competitive examination held on 14 March 2021 in Abuja.

He emerged the Best Overall among several other students from the 36 States of the Federation including the Federal Capital Territory. The award presentation took place on Monday, 15 March 2021 at the Eagle Square, venue of the ongoing Technology and Innovation Expo 2021.

The Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo presented Master Edeani with his award which included a plaque, N1 Million and scholarship up to PhD level in any Nigerian University of his choice.

It would be recalled that a similar feat was achieved by Master Peter Arotiba of Air Force Secondary School, Ikeja when he emerged best overall candidate in the 2018 May/June West African Examination Council (WAEC) in the entire West African Sub-region with 9 A-1s in 9 Subjects, beating over 1.9 million candidates that sat for the Examination.
