Student escape lynching for homosexual practice

…As mob lynches partner

A Nigerian student, Akerele Oluwamayowa escaped being lynched by a mob for alleged homosexual practice with a fellow student, Ali Toheeb in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The incident, which occurred around 6 am on Monday, 10th April 2023, led to the instant killing of his alleged homosexual lover, Toheeb, who was lynched on the spot, while Oluwamayowa escaped with knife cuts and several injuries.

According to an investigation by our reporter, it was Alhaji Ali, the late Toheeb’s father, who raised the alarm when he went to call Toheeb for Islamic morning prayers and found the two young men in the despicable act.

It was learned that the crowd swiftly gathered and descended on the hapless students, which resulted in the killing of Toheeb on the spot, while Oluwamayowa barely escaped with knife cuts.

Further investigation revealed that the mob, thereafter, traced the Oyo State-born student to his school, at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, and his residence on several occasions to also get rid of him.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that a fatwa according to Islam had been put on him to ensure he was killed whenever and wherever he may be found.
