Stop politicizing insecurity, Nigerians can’t serve God – Sultan of Sokoto to politicians
The Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, has called on Nigerian leaders to stop politicizing insecurity.
Abubakar said the politicization of insecurity is Nigeria’s major problem.
Speaking at an event in Abuja yesterday, the monarch said the solution to insecurity in the country is very close.
The monarch lamented that without adequate security, Nigerians can’t worship God.
“Parties are accusing one another of not doing enough to tackle insecurity. I think that’s the major problem we’ve been facing in the country. We believe we have a problem, and the solution is close.
“Peace is very important. Without peace, you can’t even worship God. We find people killing themselves. We must go back to the holy books and work according to those books for lasting peace,” he said.
Also, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Samson Ayokunle, appealed to Nigerians to sustain the pressure on politicians to ensure success in the fight against insecurity.
Represented by the Deputy President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Archbishop John Praise, Ayokunle said: “There has to be justice and fairness if peace is going to reign in the country.”
