Stop blackmail, foster partnerships to promote C’River – Speaker

The Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly, Elvert Ayambem has called on politicians, technocrats and other critical stakeholders in the state to desist from blackmail and political backstabbing.

In a ceremony in Calabar to honour the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar on Wednesday, the Speaker said politicians must come out of the chasm of chauvinistic partisan sentiments, and rather form partnerships that promote statehood and the betterment of Cross Riverians.

Emphasising on the spirit of brotherhood, Ayambem called on politicians in the state, especially members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to commit to the common cause of improving the state.

He called on the younger generation to borrow a leaf from the Chief of Staff and stressed on steadfastness and adherence to values and constituted authority.

“Hon Ironbar is a loyal man who has stood with the governor over the years and his appointment as the chief of staff is not out of place,” Ayambem stated.

Ayambem also said that Governor Bassey Otu-led administration is resolute in returning the state to its pride of place as a destination for business and leisure, hence his agenda of “The People First“.
