Stock market closes flat by 0.03%, as market capitalisation gains N7.24bn

Trading activities on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), closed flat on Thursday by  14.06 basis points 0.03 per cent, as market capitalization value gained N7.24 billion to close at N24.146 trillion from N24.138 trillion as it closed trade on Thursday.

The All-Share Index rose by 14.06 basis points or 0.03 per cent to close at 44,332.38 points from 44,318.15 it closed for previous trading day.

The market breadth close flat as 15 stocks that constituted the gainers table equals 15 stocks that constituted the losers.

Analysis of yesterday’s market activities showed that trade turnover settled lower relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions down by 12.87 per cent . The total trade volume declined by 27.9 per cent to close at 119.22 million units of shares worth at N3.20 billion were exchanged in 2,909 deals.

Fidelity Bank led the volume chart with 39.36 million units traded while Airtel Africa led the value chart in deals worth N1.76 billion.

At the close of trade on Thursday, Computer Warehouse Group (CWG), led the gainers chart with 9.59 per cent to close at N0.80 per share, Updcreit which followed went up by 8.93 per cent to close at N3.05 per share, While Japaulgold appreciated by 7.69 per cent to close at N0.28 per share.

Wapic Insurance rose by 5.88 per cent to close at N0.36 per share and Dangote Sugar which recorded as last fifth gainer grew by 3.92 per cent to close at N15.90 per share.

Betaglass led losers chart with 9.98 per cent to close at N41.50 per share, Alex  followed with 9.72 per cent to close at N6.50 per share, while Mutual Benefit Assurance and Rt.briscoe depreciated by 9.68 per cent each to close at N0.28 respectively.

Regalins Insurance which recorded as the last fifth loser went down by 7.69 per cent to close at N0.28 per share.

Transaction in the shares of Fidelity Bank topped the activities chart with 39.363 million shares valued at N149.023 million, Guaranty Trust Holding Company followed with 8.319 million shares worth N153.964 million, while Japaulgold traded 6.769 million shares valued at N1.853 million.

Jaizbank transacted 4.443 million shares valued at N3.888 million and Accesscorp accounted 4.352 million shares worth N35.441 million.
