Sterling Bank unveils ‘AlwaysOn’ to offer Nigerians up to N1m monthly

Sterling Bank has introduced AlwaysOn, a new feature on its OneBank platform that offers eligible Nigerians access to as much as ¦ 1 million in monthly advances, even when their account balances are low.

Launched on Workers’ Day, the feature is part of the bank’s broader effort to dismantle structural barriers to financial independence and support decisive action in uncertain economic times.

AlwaysOn is currently available by invitation only to OneBank users with an active history of transactions. It enables customers to make urgent payments and settle bills instantly, bypassing the usual delays and obstacles associated with traditional lending systems.

“This goes beyond providing access to money,” said Sterling Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Abubakar Suleiman. “It is about giving our customers the confidence to move forward when life demands it. It’s about backing their courage and respecting their dignity.”

Suleiman described the new feature as part of a deeper transformation in how Sterling Bank supports its clientele. “We’re building systems for people who carry urgency, resilience, and ambition too big to defer. If you’ve been banking with us, you’ve earned our trust. Now we’re offering the support to match your pace.”

The launch of AlwaysOn comes in the wake of other recent customer-focused initiatives by the bank, including its Zero Transfer Fees policy, which returned ¦ 13 billion to users, and a Free Bus Ride programme for commuters in Lagos. Both moves underscore Sterling’s ongoing commitment to delivering practical solutions that benefit customers during challenging economic periods.

Obinna Ukachukwu, the bank’s Growth Executive for Retail and Consumer Banking, said, “We’re not the type of bank that watches from the sidelines while Nigerians push forward. We’re right there in the thick of it with them.”

Sterling Bank has invited customers to join the AlwaysOn waitlist, with the phased rollout of the feature set to begin later this month
