The Steam FunFest Conference, a Free Annual Conference and Exhibition, held its third training in Lagos, over the weekend.
The Stem FunFest Conference, 2022 is directed at preparing young children from age eight to15 on a journey to a better future through Science Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics, career talks, fun steam activities, and other exciting games.
Empowerment been a major tool for a better future pulled several like minds as sponsors from ACCESS BANK, A.G LEVENTIS, MTN, WEMABANK, and IHS TOWERS with a similar aim of investing in the African Child for a better future that is fast changing and driven by technology.
Creativity, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Collaboration, and Communication were approaches to create innovative minds at the event.
Gracing the event were trainings from Coding by Brainiac, Drones Display by Drone Academy, Engineering by Edufun Technik, Robotics by Stem Mets, and Design with Canva by Sabiteach and other Educational Games.
During the glamourous yet impactful event, Journalists from the Nigerian NewsDirect researched diverse views on the programme.
Mrs. Iwenla, a mother of three spoke on the importance of Digital Learning in today’s despensation, particularly among the younger ones.
“This is the third edition of the programme, though it is quite crowded but I believe the children are enjoying themselves. We all know the world has gone digital and it is very important the kids have an idea,” she said.
Mrs Feran Babatunde whose children attend Airforce Primary and Secondary School states that the initiative would shape children’s career prospect beyond the regular.
“The world is going digital and there are many things to achieve in the digital world.
“I brought my children to have fun and to know the other career prospect beyond Medicine and Law. It is also to create their awareness that the world is going digital and there are so many things they can achieve,” she said.
An Exhibitor from TechQuest Stem Academy, spoke on their readiness to deliver adequately to the children, as the aim is to create tech champions everywhere.
Mr. Victor from EduFun Technik Temerun, explains that the event was introduced to help children’s brain work better at a young age as well expose them to early stems of life by using virtuals, tutors, step by step books to make it easier to comprehend the training.
“The event is about introducing children into robotics, early stems life and help them keep their brain healthy by solving issues.
“A 13-year-old child from Atlantic Hall School, Mavel Christene, made known her excitement to learn more on Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
As she further states, “learning skills gives you an advantage for the future.”
While learning seems to be the major essence of the event, Agnes Adewusi, from Alimosho Senior Grammar School seems eager to get entertained as well as engage her eye.
Agnes claims in the next 25 years the World would be subjected to robots as they work on any condition.
“I came for fun, to check around and get entertained. I am interested in the robotics, because in the next 25 years robots would be ruling,” she said.
The Steam FunFest 2022 themed “From the Classroom to the World” breeds hope of inspiring future generations in Nigeria by a one day event seasoned with great speakers, career talks, workshops, fun activities, games and interactive science learning opportunities.
