Southern Kaduna Attacks: PDP guber candidate cancels townhall meeting, condoles victims

The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State for the 2023 elections, Isa Ashiru, has condoled the families of those who lost their lives and valuables in the recent attacks in Kaura Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement he issued in Kaduna on Tuesday, he said, “Against the relative peace being enjoyed by most of our communities, I received the sad news of the attack in Malagum 1 and Sokwong communities in Kagoro chiefdom, Kaura Local government area of Kaduna state with shock and prayed for the reposed of those who lost their lives.

He said it was disheartening and reprehensible that such senseless acts could still be found among communities, saying it is condemnable and should have no place among civilized people like Nigerians.

The gubernatorial candidate sent his heartfelt condolence to the chief of Kagoro, the families of the victims of the attack and the entire people of Kaura local government area.

As a mark of respect to the departed, the injured and those grieving, he explained that the town hall meetings scheduled to start in Kaduna South Senatorial District on Tuesday, 20th December 2022, have been suspended, stressing that all the PDP party offices in Kaduna South Senatorial District have been advised to fly their flags at half-mast as a mark of respect to those that have been affected by the incident.

“It is my sincere hope that as we work together to install a new government at the state and Federal levels by the special grace of God, we would be able to collaborate and develop strategies that would curtail future incidents,” he said.

While praying for quick healing and comfort to the injured, he extended his sincere condolences to all those that have been affected by the incident.
