Soludo tackles unemployment with One Youth, Two Skills in Onitsha-North

The significance of the One Youth, Two Skills Development Initiative of the present administration in Anambra State has been reaffirmed in Ontisha-North local government area.

On the One Youth, Two Skills Initiative  domiciled in the Ministry of Youth Development and Creative Economy, some indigenes of Onitsha-North attested to have taken a lot of young people off the streets and empowered them with economic skills necessary to transform their lives.

Indigenes of Onitsha-North who gave eloquent testimonies of the skill acquisition programme while speaking with our correspondent at the palace of the traditional ruler of Onitsha Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the government of Professor Charles Soludo, saying that the State Government is indeed paying priority attention to the well-being of young people in the State.

Barr. Araka Ifeyinwa, a master trainer in the One Youth, Two Skills Special Skill Empowerment Programme in Onitsha-North local government area, said the capacity building programme covers all the local governments in Anambra State; that in Onitsha-North the programme has provided opportunities for youths to acquire hands-on skills for self-reliance and self-employment purposes.

Araka stated that cooperatives have been formed for the trainees to enable them to further access resources to grow and expand their businesses, stressing that it’s all about fighting unemployment and empowering young people in Onitsha-North and Anambra State in general.

She said she was a master trainer in the Information and Communication Technology section, training youths on basic ICT courses like Microsoft Word, Corel Draw, Computer Maintenance and a host of others

She also said that beneficiaries of the One Youth, Two Skills Training Programme were grateful to Governor  Soludo, saying that they will massively support his second term bid.

Also, Mr. Okechukwu Onuma of ward 7 Onitsha-North local government area, said Governor Soludo has done a lot in the area with the One Youth, Two Skills Initiative.

Onuma noted that the skill acquisition programme has empowered people with sewing skills and many other economic skills.
