Solewant Group has announced its 8th Annual Energy Summit, set to take place on November 29, 2024, at the company’s Alode facility in Port Harcourt.
This year’s summit aims to drive technological innovation and foster collaboration among stakeholders to advance Africa’s sustainable energy sector.
Themed “Pioneering Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development in Africa,” the event is expected to draw a diverse audience, including key figures from the Presidency, National Assembly members, cabinet ministers, petroleum ministers, and representatives from global and African energy companies.
The summit will address critical issues in energy production and distribution across Africa, emphasising the transition to renewable energy.
Speaking at a pre-summit press conference, a spokesperson for Solo One Group outlined the significance of the gathering.
“This summit provides a platform for energy experts, academics, and policymakers to collaborate on solutions to increase oil production and transition to renewable energy in Africa,” the spokesperson said. “It’s a unique opportunity for stakeholders to address challenges like financing, infrastructure, and policy.”
The summit will begin with a pre-tournament golf event at the Port Harcourt Golf Club on November 28, providing an informal networking opportunity. The main summit on November 29 will feature panel discussions, technical breakout sessions, and an exhibition showcasing cutting-edge innovations in the energy sector.
Solewant Group has confirmed participation from several major international and local companies, with nearly all exhibition spaces already booked. Among the highlights of the summit will be discussions on Africa’s progress in renewable energy.
With examples from countries like South Africa, Morocco, and Kenya, panellists will examine how Nigeria and other nations can accelerate their efforts in sustainable energy. Experts will also focus on the importance of government policy in creating a favourable environment for investment in Africa’s energy infrastructure.
Director of the Center for Energy and Economics at the University of Ibadan, Professor Falade, is set to lead discussions on bridging knowledge and policy gaps in the sector.
“Bringing together academic research with real-world applications will help create the foundation for substantial capital investments in renewable energy,” Falade said.
The summit seeks not only to showcase innovations but also to encourage partnerships among African and international companies.
Representatives from financial institutions, including Union Bank and First Bank, will be present to discuss financing options for energy projects, while Sole want Group’s Training Institute aims to provide skills development and sector-specific training for young professionals entering the energy field.
The spokesperson emphasised the summit’s role in amplifying Africa’s energy narrative through the media. “We recognize the media’s power to tell our story and amplify the summit’s impact,” they noted.
As Africa increasingly explores renewable energy options and technological advancements in oil and gas, the 8th Annual Energy Summit provides a strategic platform for meaningful discussions, new partnerships, and a roadmap to a sustainable energy future.
