Sokoto gets new Commissioner of Police

…Visits burnt Sokoto Central Market

The Nigerian Police Force, Skoto State Command has welcomed a new Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Aji Janga, who replaced the immediate past CP Ibrahim Sani Kaoje, at the Command headquarters in Sokoto on Wednesday.

This is contained in a statement signed by the spokesman of the command, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, and released to journalists in the state on Wednesday, where he disclosed that the former commissioner has proceeded on course.

He said, “The Sokoto State Police Command gladly wishes to inform members of the public that, CP Ali Aji Janga, has been posted as the 44th Commissioner of Police to spearhead the affairs of the State Police Command. He takes over from CP Ibrahim S. Kaoje, who has proceeded on course to National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Jos, Plateau State.”

The new commissioner of Police, CP Ali  Aji Janga, according to the statement was born on 11 June 1963 in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. He attended Central Primary School, Gwoza, Borno State and proceeded to Fika, Government Secondary School Postiskum, Yobe State.

“Subsequently, he gained admission to University of Maiduguri, Borno State and graduated with a Bachelor of Law (LLB).

“CP Ali Aji Janga, enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 1990, he has worked in different divisions and formations in the NPF.”

Meanwhile, in his first assignment in the state, the new commissioner has visited the burnt market to commiserate with owners of businesses, and ordered full scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the inferno.

Upon arrival at the scene, the CP was received by the Director Administration, Sokoto Central Market, Alh. Hassan Aliyu, who led the CP’s delegation on an intensive inspection of the market. The CP was highly appreciated by the market management and business owners for his prompt visit, empathy and genuine concern.

The CP responded by sincerely commiserating with the victims of the inferno and further directed a full scale investigation in order to unravel the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident.
