Six months after, Jigawa yet to distribute 2,000 gas cylinders for women empowerment

Six months after receiving two thousand gas cylinders meant for empowering women in Jigawa State from the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs,the cylinders are yet to be distributed.

Confirming the story, the Director, Administration and Finance, Alhaji Bashir Zubairu Kazaure who was directed to speak on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, Women Affairs, Jigawa State, Hajia Hauwa Zakar, said they were directed to collect and keep the two thousand gas cylinders in their stores.

“We are still waiting for their directive to distribute. We wrote to them to come and distribute. We cannot go ahead to do the job until they send their staff or give order to do so.”

Bashir added that “the project is meant to empower women and we are targeting only women for the programme.”

In a related development in the area, he said that the 40 open tricycles donated by the APC Jigawa Northwest Senator Babangida Hussaini Kazaure, would be distributed by Governor Badaru himself.

“All the tricycles have been assembled and are ready for distribution to politicians.”

On the issue of orphans, the Jigawa State Ministry of Women Affairs has adopted 17 children who were all handed over to adopted parents, while four other children are currently residing at the state centre.

He dismissed the allegation that the centre has 13 children. He said officially on their record, they have only four orphans in the centre.

While on a visit to the centre, Hajiya Fatima who is working at the centre confirmed that they have 13 children at the centre, majority of whom are abandoned babies.

She hinted that the state was doing well in providing food items to the centre for the feeding of the orphans.
