Shun protest, embrace dialogue – Elele urges youths

Chairman of the Council of Hausa Traditional Rulers in Mowe Obafemi, Owode Egba, Chief Rafiu Elele has appealed to youths to reject protest and instead engage in dialogue with the government to address their grievances.

Elele warned that protest could be hijacked by hoodlums and lead to disruption of peace, citing the memories of the #EndSARS aftermath.

“We can’t risk disruption of peace for any nature of protest,” he said.

He urged parents to guide their children and table reliable adversaries to the youths.

“But if some groups of people defy all warnings and embark on the protest, I urge them to take it to their place of origin. Our community is not a theatre of war,” he said.

Elele emphasized the importance of dialogue, saying, “We will continue to dialogue with the government and we will always table our needs for a better living. But not the way of protest.
