Shelve planned protest, support fight against corruption – Adedayo charges Nigerians
As the planned EndBadGovernance protest approaches, leaders across various levels have appealed to Nigerians, especially youths, to abandon the strike and embrace dialogue as a more effective means of conveying their demands. The latest calls came from Stephen Adedayo, a former photographer of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Late Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, wife of late MKO Abiola.
Adedayo emphasized that the President is working tirelessly to address the challenges inherited from previous administrations and needs understanding, not protest. He cautioned that the planned protest could lead to violence, citing the EndSARS protest and recent Kenyan experience as examples.
Adedayo advised youths to redirect their energies to supporting anti-graft agencies like the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in tackling corrupt leaders. He stressed that the youth should form pressure groups to collaborate with EFCC and ICPC to hold accountable those who have stolen public funds.
The State Security Services (SSS) has also warned that the planned protest aims to achieve regime change and has identified sinister plans to infiltrate and cause chaos. However, protest organizers insist that the current hardship warrants a response from the masses to push the government to act responsibly.
The appeals come as the country grapples with economic challenges and corruption. Leaders urge Nigerians to embrace dialogue and support the fight against corruption for a better future.”
