Sequel to the upset Incident at shasha market, 7 suspects were handed over to Oyo state police command by the Nigerian Military after 11 days in custody, they were charged to court after investigation.
This was made known by Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Ngozi Onadeko in her office while discussing with journalists.
She said ” 7 suspects were handed over to the police by the Nigerian Military after 11 days in their custody and we are interrogated and they were charged to court.”
She added that we need to giving coloration to crimes as many expressed their dissatisfaction that 7 suspects were yorubas, as we need to ask question if they really committed the crime.
“I keep telling you to stop giving coloration to crimes, as well as religion or ethnicity to crime. It doesn’t matter whether they are Yoruba of Igbo, the question is, was there any crime committed and with our investigations, we already charged them to court.”
Oyo State Police Command also assured the citizens and residents of the State of adequate and diligent prosecution of criminals.
” Therefore, it is worthy of note that the good people of Oyo State and the general public should be rest assured that the officers and men in the Command would not derelict in its duty to bring to book criminal elements arrested for any infringement on the laws of the land, as adequate security measures has been emplaced against anything untoward while soliciting credible information from members of the public to enable the Police and other Security Agencies clampdown on crime and criminality in the State.”
