SFH appoints Emir of Zazzau as Nutrition, Adolescent Health Ambassador
Society for Family Health (SFH) has appointed the Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Ahmed Bamalli, as its Ambassador on Nutrition, Adolescent and Family Health programmes to scale-up access to nutrition and improve reproductive health services in Nigeria.
The Managing Director of the society, Dr Omokhudu Idogho, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the emir in Zaria on Tuesday.
Idogho, represented by Mr James Ocholi, said the visit was to seek the blessings of the royal father and to request him to be the organisation’s ambassador on nutrition and adolescent and family health programmes.
“When we speak and say his blessings are with us, I believe people will listen and support the programmes; Our desire is to have healthy Kaduna where women and children are healthy,” he said.
He said the organisation was working in 11 local governments of Kaduna State on various projects, including the Adolescent 360 and Accelerating Nutrition Result in Nigeria (ANRIN).
The managing director hinted that the ANRIN hinged on improving nutrition for children in Zaria, Igabi, Sabon Gari, Birnin Gwari and Lere local governments.
Others are Kubau, Makarfi, Soba and Kauru local governments. He said the organisation would leverage on traditional and religious institutions to send the information down to the grassroots, hence the visit to the emir of Zazzau.
He appealed for support to the projects by allowing women and children to participate to ensure good health for families.
In his response, Amb. Ahmed Bamalli, Emir of Zazzau, reiterated his commitment to support the organisation to succeed in its projects.
While commending the organisation’s interventions to enhance nutrition and adolescent and reproductive health services in the emirate, the emir said request for placing a logo of SFH should wait until final renovation of the palace.
