Senate confirms Okoye, Ma’aji, others for SEDC, NWDC Governing Boards
The Senate has confirmed all the nominees for the Governing Board of the South East Development Commission (SEDC).
Also confirmed by the Upper Chamber are nominees of the North West Development Commission (NWDC).
The Senate gave its final confirmation after the Ad hoc Committee on Regional Development Commissions led by Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu (APC-Abia) submitted the report of its screening exercise.
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, confirmed Mr Mark Okoye and Prof. Abdullahi Ma’aji as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officers of the SEDC and NWDC respectively.
Kalu said that the nominees had during the screening, proved their capacities to man the affairs of the respective development commissions.
The confirmed nominees are; the 14 board member nominees of the NWDC led by Alhaji Lawal Abdullahi as Chairman of the commission and Prof. Abdullahi Ma’aji as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
Others are; Dr Yahaya Namahe, Aminu Suleiman, Ja’afar Abubakar Sadeeq, Yahaya Abdullahi, Muhammad Wudil, Shamsu Sule, Nasidi Ali, Chukwu Chijioke, Ahmed Mohammed, Ahmed Timasantyu, Macdonalds Uyi and Babatunde Dada”.
Also confirmed are the 18-member nominees of the South-East Development Commission led by Dr Emeka Nworgu who was also confirmed as Chairman and Mark Okoye as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
Others are: Ugochukwu Agballah, Okey Ezenwa, Hyacinth Ikpor, Chidi Echeazu, Ifeanyi Agwu, Nasiru Usman, Daniel Akwari, Stanley Ohajuruka, Sylvester Okonkwo and Toby Okechukwu.
Also included are Sen. Anthony Agbo, Clifford Ogbede, Ali Kumo, Edward Onoja Oruro Inima, and Mrs Joke Adebayo-Chukwuma.
