Sen. Olujimi mourns Onijan of Ijan-Ekiti, Oba Fadahunsi

The Senator, representing Ekiti South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Biodun Olujimi has expressed shock over the demise of the Onijan of Ijan-Ekiti, Oba Samuel Fadahunsi.

In a statement on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti, Olujimi described the death of Oba Fadahunsi as unfortunate and a great loss to the people of Ekiti.

She said that the late Oba was dedicated and pragmatic in the discharge his duties to his community and Ekiti.

She said late Oba would be missed by the people of Ijan Ekiti and the entire state.

“I commiserate with the government and people of Ekiti state and the Ijan community in particular for this great loss. I condole with the family for losing such a dependable royal father

“It is on record that the late monarch did his best for the development of the state.

“Losing such a father at a time when his wise counsels are most needed is not only unfortunate, but a major loss to the government and people of the state.

“I pray that God grant the family, the Ijan community and the good people of Ekiti state the fortitude to bear this great loss,” Olujimi said.

Oba Fadahunsi of the Otutubiosun Ruling House ascended the throne on Sept. 22, 2002 before joining his ancestors on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2021.

Fadahunsi received his staff of office in April 2003 from the then Alliance for Democracy governor, Otunba Niyi Adebayo.

The late oba succeeded Oba Adeyemo Obarinde, who died in February 2000, after 48 years on the throne.
