Sen. Godiya Akwashiki (APC- Nasarawa North) has distributed 60 motorcycles, 170 sewing machines, 160 grinding machines and N3.6 million cash to 570 people in his constituency.
This, he said, was to uplift the standard of living of the people positively.
Akwashiki, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Employment, Labour and Productivity, distributed the materials and cash to the beneficiaries on Monday in Akwanga.
He said that the distribution was part of his continued commitment to improve on the lots of his constituents.
Akwashiki distributed N20, 000 each to 180 beneficiaries to use as seed capital for various micro trades.
He however advised them to utilise the items and money for the purpose they were meant for.
“You are all aware of what I have done to change your lives and the lives of other people of my constituency positively.
“Last year, I distributed empowerment items such as cars, motorcycles, grinding and welding machines as well as cash, among others.
“And today, I am distributing empowerment tools and cash to the people and this is going to be in batches.
“All these gestures are to touch and change your standard of living positively,” he said.
Akwashiki said that he has built and still building infrastructure, such as roads, electricity and health centres electricity, across the communities.
He solicited support from all and sundry to enable him to succeed.
The senator called on his constituents and residents of the state at large to support Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s administration to succeed.
Earlier, Mr Yakubu Kwanta, the Special Adviser to the governor on Youth and Sports Development, appreciated the lawmaker for keying into good policies and programmes that have direct bearing on the lives of the people.
He called on the people of the senatorial district to support Akwashiki to succeed at all times.
Reports state that some of the beneficiaries, who spoke during the programme thanked the legislator for the gesture and pledged to support him beyond 2023.
