The Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has provided much-needed relief materials to the victims of a recent communal clash between Miga and Jahun Local Government areas that resulted in the loss of over 17 lives.

The agency distributed 25 bags of rice and ₦500,000 in cash to affected families. Additionally, families who lost children in the violence received five bags of rice and ₦100,000 each to assist in their recovery.

Dr. Haruna Mairiga, the Executive Secretary of SEMA, explained that the clash was triggered by theft, which led to the discovery of stolen goods in a settlement, sparking violent confrontations that led to fatalities and property destruction.

Jahun Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Jamilu Dan Mallam, assured that the council remains committed to supporting the victims. He urged them to accept the tragedy as fate and focus on rebuilding their lives peacefully.

He also advised the beneficiaries to use the relief items effectively to ease their suffering.
