A 25-year-old security guard, Edu Nkanu, has been sentenced to seven years in prison by the Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
He was found guilty of stealing compressors of air conditioners worth N380,000 that belonged to his employer.
Nkanu, who resides at No 14, Babatunde St., Off Ogunlana Drive, Surulere, Lagos, was charged with a single count of stealing.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O Otitoju, handed down the sentence after Nkanu pleaded guilty to the charge.
He was not given the option of a fine.
According to the prosecutor, Insp Courage Ekhueorohan, the defendant committed the offence on August 8 at No 77 Itire Road, Surulere, Lagos.
Nkanu, who worked as a security guard at a hospital, stole four compressors, which is a violation of Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
