Security Council renews ban on Okada operation in Benue

Benue State Security Council presided over by the state Governor, Samuel Ortom, has disclosed that the ban on motorcycle (Okada) operation in Sankara axis of Benue State comprising Ukum, Logo and Katsina Ala Local Government Areas subsist.
Ortom also revealed that the time for Okada operations in Makurdi metropolis is limited to 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the dot.
Ortom made the disclosure on Wednesday while briefing journalists shortly after the State Security Council meeting at government house Makurdi.
The Governor explained that the decision by the State Security Council has became necessary due to the insecurity increase and threats across the country and motorcycle being the easiest means used by crime perpetrators
He pointed out the most recent insecurity that took place in Abuja the Federal Capital territory.
Ortom warned that any motorcyclist that may breach the ban will be arrested and his motorcycle confiscated without delay
He further announced that Benue State Government will on Thursday 4th August, 2022 inaugurate the Benue State Volunteer Guards to compliment security agencies in the flight against crime in the State.
