Scam alert: NAHCON denies nursing employment notice

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has countered the misleading information circulating on social media that it has invited volunteer nursing staff to apply for recruitment for the 2024 Hajj services.

NAHCON’s Assistant Director, Fatima Sanda Usara, said the public must be aware that the commission has not enlisted any organisation to recruit volunteer nurses during Hajj.

“We strongly caution against falling victim to potential scams,” she warned.

She clarifies that only medical personnel the commission engages would be authorised to practice medicare during Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

According to her, under Saudi Arabian medical policies, no State pilgrims’ board, private tour operators or organisations are permitted to run clinics except under a Hajj participating country’s recognised Hajj Mission with approval from the Saudi Ministry of Health through the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

“Whoever does otherwise runs the risk of arrest and persecution,” she stated.

NAHCON, further clarifies that Sheikh Muhammad Suleman Adam, the Imam of Sultan Bello Mosque, has disassociated himself from this purported recruitment offer.
