Sapele community cries out over increased burglary by hoodlums

Residents of a community in Sapele have cried out over the new spate of insecurity in the area, lamenting that armed robbers now break into houses at night, robbing people of valuables and injuring victims.

News reports that recently, the criminals burgled the home of an Akara seller, simply identified as Mama Samu while she was deeply asleep with her children and stole the sum of twenty-two thousand naira (₦22,000).

The incident reportedly occurred on Friday, August 4 at about 3am.

There were also reports of another incident within the locality at the Mopol Zone, Tropical area, Sapele on Sunday, August 6.

The thieves reportedly burgled the house of an Ijaw woman identified as Mama Angel through the window while her family slept, carting away mobile phones and her plasma television.

Reports indicate that within this period, other burglaries have happened in many homes, despite the vigilante and Police keeping night watch and patrolling both day and night.

One resident, Samu who spoke with our correspondent in Ajogodo said, “Sapele don turn another thing. Vigilante dey town and boys dey enter people house dey thief. The one wey we go catch for here, go hear am.”
