Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu officially launched the groundbreaking ceremony for the 18-storey Ibom Towers on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Plot 868A, Bishop Aboyade Cole, Victoria Island, Lagos.

In his address, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the Ibom Towers as not just a physical structure but a symbol of inter-state cooperation and vibrant community life.

He praised Akwa Ibom State’s initiative to embark on this ambitious project in Lagos, highlighting the city’s status as a commercial hub and the visionary leadership of Governor Umo Eno.

He praised the collaboration between the two states, describing the venture as a “beacon of the fruitful alliance between Lagos and Akwa Ibom.”

He added that the project would “create a unique space that encourages business, investment, and vibrant community life,” further affirming the commitment to strengthen economic ties.

Also, Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno has called on Nigerians to exercise patience amid the challenges posed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reform programs, assuring them that “the reforms our president is currently introducing to grow our country, painful as they may appear today, will bear fruits soon.”

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Eno emphasised the transformative impact of Tinubu’s leadership, recalling his own experiences during Tinubu’s governorship in Lagos.

“I see a great light at the end of this tunnel,” he stated, expressing optimism that the current reforms would similarly elevate Nigeria’s economy.

Governor Eno highlighted the significance of the Ibom Towers project as a strategic investment aimed at enhancing Akwa Ibom’s revenue base and fostering economic growth.

“With the blue chip real estate market, we are here to perform a groundbreaking ceremony of this 18-storey Ibom Towers,” he said, underscoring the project’s potential to create new income streams for the state.

Meanwhile, former Governor Victor Attah reflected on missed opportunities during his tenure, noting, “I had wanted to embark on this project… but did not get the support of the relevant stakeholders.”

He encouraged Eno, saying, “You have a vision. The future belongs to those who have the audacity to see the future before it becomes a reality.”
