Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged the mass media to provide more extensive coverage of government activities to enhance public awareness and understanding of government actions.
He made this call on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, led by Chairman, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized the need for more youths and citizens to be informed about government programs and initiatives aimed at impacting their lives.
He highlighted his administration’s achievements, including skill acquisition programs, farming training, and initiatives like the Ounjè Eko Discount Market and Ilere Eko Farmers programs.
The governor, represented by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, encouraged the media to showcase these initiatives to the youth, enabling them to take advantage of the opportunities available.
NUJ Chairman, Mr. Ajayi, commended the governor’s achievements in traffic management, healthcare delivery, education, and security.
He praised the successful implementation of the Themes Plus Agenda, including the inauguration of the Red and Blue rail lines, high-capacity ferries, and new jetties.
Ajayi sought support for the NUJ council and requested inclusion of NUJ members in the state government’s housing scheme.
He expressed his commitment to collaborating with the government to improve the lives of Lagos State residents.
