Sanwo-Olu rewards excellence as six Lagos civil servants receive cars for outstanding performance
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday presented cars to six outstanding civil servants in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the state’s public service.
The ceremony, held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium in Ikeja, was part of the Governor’s Lunch With Outstanding Officers.
Sanwo-Olu commended the civil servants for their dedication and doggedness, stating, “Earlier today, I met with some elderly citizens and they were all full of praises for each and every one of you, Let it be said that we’re actually the best out of all the states in the country.”
The governor emphasized the importance of excellence in public service, saying, “It’s time we continue to reflect excellence in the public service and all we do. The reward for hard work is more work.”
He urged the awardees not to rest on their laurels but to continue striving for excellence.
A total of 210 civil servants, comprising 117 senior and 93 junior officers, were selected for the award, with six emerging as the most outstanding.
The initial plan was to give five cars to senior officers, but Sanwo-Olu ensured equal representation by selecting a female winner.
In addition to the cars, five junior officers received cash awards totaling about N5 million. The state Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, thanked the governor for prioritizing staff welfare and approving a 13th-month salary for civil servants.
