Sanwo-Olu commissions newly refurbished Ajeromi-Ifelodun Secretariat, extol Council Chairman

The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has commissioned the newly refurbished Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Secretariat by the Executive Chairman, Hon Fatai Adekunle Ayoola on Saturday, 20, 2021 after the heavy destruction witnessed during the EndSARS protest that was hijacked by hoodlums in October 2020.

Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the chairman and the entire local government staffs. He also thanked and commended the traditional rulers in Ajeromi Ifelodun for their supports and also prayed for those whose cars were among the cars that were burnt by the hoodlums.

Sanwo-Olu said: “I am indeed happy, truly happy and excited that less than four months afterwards, we have come back to the same premises and all of us have indeed behold the magnificent edifice that the chairman, Fatai Ayoola has turned what appeared as an hopeless situation to an edifice that befits Ajeromi Local government.”

“I am truly happy, excited and impressed by the commitment you have shown but not only you, your council manager, your council treasurer, your council auditor and all the staff of Ajeromi Local government. You are the true heroes of this event, you are the ones that took the pain, you are the ones that have stood with your chairman, you are the ones that have thrown in your salaries to ensure that this become from a broken shackles to come up again and rise corpuscle office for you. I think What has been demonstrated here today is the resilience of our people, it is the strength of Lagosian, the believe in ourselves that whoever think they can divide us, they need to think again and that, in the midst of the divides, we will come back stronger and bigger,that together we can even do it bigger and better.”

The Governor encouraged the people of Ajeromi to be their brother’s keeper, to live in peace and harmony. He also warned that, they should not allow ethnicity, religion, tribe or whatever divide them. He said, together we can do things bigger and better.

Sanwo-Olu donated six brand new vehicles (four pickup vans and two cars) to the council to aid and ensure smooth running of the administrative duties.

The Governor also performed the ground-breaking for the rebuilding of the Magistrate Court burnt in the council secretariat.

Hon. Ayoola recognize the presence of everyone. He thanked Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his support in rebuilding the secretariat, noting that the sad event almost halted governance in the council. He appreciated all the traditional rulers for their supports towards his administration. He also thanked the entire staffs who forfeited their three months salaries to the refurbishing of the secretariat.

Lagos APC chairman, Hon. Tunde Balogun, said the residents are gradually coming out of the ruins wreaked by the arsonists.

He said the beauty of the new secretariat would endlessly prick the conscience of those who participated in the destruction of the building.

The chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Lagos, Prince Rabiu Oluwa thanked and appreciate the Governor and all dignitaries, he commended the chairman and thanked everyone present.

Hon. Kolawole Taiwo(national assembly member from federal house of representatives representing Ajeromi Ifelodun constituency, a one time deputy speaker in Lagos state house of assembly) did the vote of thanks.
