Sanwo-Olu appoints new LASIEC Chair, members ahead of LG elections

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu Ighile (Rtd) as the new Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).

This appointment comes ahead of the next elections scheduled to hold next year in all 20 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas across the state.

The governor also appointed five others to serve as members of LASIEC. They are: Mr. Samson Ajibade, Mr. Oluwo Akim Durojaiye, Dr. Metilelu Olumide Olusola, Mr. Aileru Abeeb Dapo, and Mr. Oladele Adekanye.

According to a statement by the state Ministry of Information and Strategy, Justice Ighile (Rtd) will take over from Justice Ayotunde Adeyoola Phillips (Rtd), the incumbent chairman.

The statement added that details of the swearing-in ceremony would be announced in due course.
