Sanwo-Olu appoints Dr Fene Osakwe to lead Cybersecurity Advisory Board in Lagos

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has inaugurated the Lagos State Science, Research and Innovation Council (LASRIC) and Cybersecurity Advisory Board, to drive scientific advancements and safeguard digital security in the state.

The ceremony, held at the Lagos House in Ikeja, was presided over by Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.

Dr. Fene Osakwe was appointed Chairman of the Board, with the mandate to establish a robust protection ecosystem ensuring the quality of life for all citizens. The Deputy Governor emphasised the significance of the Cybersecurity Advisory Board in enhancing digital security and advancing the state’s development agenda.

“The Board is another example of private public participation as we would be working with the Lagos State Ministry of Innovation, Science & Technology and other internal stakeholders. The Board members have a combined 140 years of cyber experience between them and have working experience cutting across 11 countries,” said the Chairman, further emphasising that the Board will work to ensure that SMART Lagos, is a cyber secure and resilient State.

Lagos State Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Mr. Tunbosun Alake, highlighted the Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to leveraging technology and digital solutions to improve the quality of life for citizens.

He noted that Lagos State is pioneering a groundbreaking approach to cybersecurity, making it the first state to embark on such an initiative.
